Homeschool for Free
I’m a saver. I love to save money and since you’re reading this post, I know you do, too. It gives me a satisfaction to know I got something at a bargain price. So, when we decided to homeschool it grieved me to see these high dollar prices curriculum companies were asking me to pay for their curriculum. I knew I could homeschool for free.
Check out my post How to Homeschool: A complete Guide for the Beginning Homeschooler.
I checked out used curriculum at Amazon and Ebay and ended up buying a few things off there, but I come across some sites that I couldn’t believe were there. Other homeschool moms who have been there and done that put their plans, instructions, and even their own written curriculum out there for the world to use. Isn’t that great!
Tips to homeschool for free
1. Make a plan.
Decide what your going to be learning this year. For example, are you going to be learning ancient history and biology? Make a list of books you will be using and find some online printables that go with what your learning.
Bloggers offer free printables just for signing up to their email list. Free Homeschool Deals has a ton of free printables
2. Utilize your local library
After you make a plan, utilize your local library. Make a list of books, videos, and audios at your library that go along with what you are learning. Find out what kind of programs they offer and go for it. Check out the library app Hoopla. It has amazing movies, videos, ebooks, audiobooks, and magazines all for free.
3. Get ideas from your favorite homeschool company
Check out your favorite homeschool company and see what resources they use. Try to find these at your library or something similar.
4. Use YouTube
YouTube is a great resource for science experiments, geography videos, art, math memorization (I use skip counting songs to help my kids learn multiplication), history. Basically anything. I use it all the time.
