I recently compiled a post of freezer meals for new moms. It had some amazing recipes in there, but some of my readers brought it to my attention that there are no vegetarian freezer meals there.
So here are some of the best protein-filled freezer meals for vegetarians.
Many of these recipes are vegan and gluten-free. Score!
Being a new mom is so hard. Let me make it easy for you with these freezer meals.
Quick Tip for Freezer Meals
- cook meals in an aluminum pan and cover in plastic wrap and aluminum foil whenever possible. When you’re ready to cook, thaw out and follow cooking directions.
- If you’re going to cook it all in one day cook large batches of quinoa or rice, etc. to use in your recipes. This way you cook your meat only once and add it to several different recipes.
- Don’t forget breakfast and lunch. There’s nothing nutritional about Cheerios in the morning when you’re recovering from childbirth. And after being up through the night you won’t exactly feel like cooking yourself a healthy meal in the morning or at lunchtime.
- Start double batching now. The easiest way to get these made before baby comes is to cook the meals now in double batches and freeze the second batch.
- Use recipes with tons of protein in them to eat the first week or so. I craved protein after all of my babies were born, but it seemed especially so after my first.
- Try to avoid too spicy or gassy foods just in case it may bother baby’s tummy.
- Use a crockpot or instant pot whenever possible. Just throw your frozen meal in there. They’re a new mom lifesaver and crockpot liners makes cleanup a breeze.
- Store the meals in a certain amount of servings. For example, if it’s just you and your husband, freeze 2 servings in each pan or bag. That way you won’t waste any that isn’t eaten.
- Use ziploc bags for soups and stews. Label everything with a permanent marker.
