Christmas Games & Activities #1: Outings There is something so special about spending time with family enjoying some Christmas festivities out on the town. Check out these fun Christmas outing ideas!

  • Pick out your Christmas tree together.
  • Go out for a Christmas themed scavenger hunt.
  • Go to your town’s Christmas tree lighting event.
  • Head out for a sleigh ride.
  • Christmas caroling.
  • Go ice skating.
  • Watch a Christmas movie at the theatre.
  • Visit Santa & Mrs. Claus at the mall.
  • Go to your Christmas program at church.
  • See if there’s a Christmas event at your library. I just went to one with my homeschool group called Christmas Tea. The folks at the library had a pianist and singer from one of our local churches in town sing some Christmas songs, then the librarian read a book called “Christmas Tea,” and after they had tea, cider, and Christmas cookies. Just a really neat event.
  • The BEST: Take a ride to see all of the homes lit up with Christmas decorations!

  • Take some Christmas photos together. Bonus if you make some funny ones!

Christmas Games & Activities #3: Christmas Party & Game Ideas Having Christmas parties are so much fun. Just to have people over, eat some yummy foods, play games, get some good laughs, and all of the festivities that come with entertaining is so needed sometimes…just to relieve some stress, let loose, and have an evening of fun!

  • Have the kids paint a big snowman and play pin the carrot on the snowman.
  • Dance to Christmas music.
  • Have an elephant Christmas game.
  • Host a baking party.
  • The kiddos could have a slumber party under the tree.
  • Have a marshmallow munch contest to see who can eat an entire bowl of marshmallows and drink a cup of hot chocolate in a minute.
  • Oven mittens balloon pop game: Have a contest to see who can pop the most balloons wearing oven mittens before the time is up.
  • Decorate the reindeer game: Set a timer and break up in teams with brown crepe paper and a reindeer headband. One player wears the reindeer hat and the others wrap the person up in the brown crepe paper…the team whose reindeer is the most decorated before the time is up, wins. Or you can do the same thing with green crepe paper & Christmas bows to make a Christmas tree game.
  • Play a “Would you rather?” game with Christmas themed questions.
  • Play a Christmas trivia game.
  • Play a Christmas song Pictionary game.
  • Christmas BINGO.
  • Holiday Family Feud.

Christmas Games & Activities #4: Crafts & Gifts How about making some arts and crafts with the kiddos while making Christmas gifts at the same time?

  • Make some Christmas ornaments.
  • A wreath from things you find in nature.
  • Mason jar snow globes.
  • Paper snowflakes.
  • Cookie starter kit in a mason jar.
  • Decorate mason jars or other glass-type jars as a candle holder.
  • Picture frames made from construction or tissue paper.
  • Make some scented body scrubs from sugar, coconut oil & essential oils.
  • Suncatchers, windchimes or keychains made from clear beads.

Christmas Games & Activities #5: Giving Back This is one is so incredibly important to teach our children the importance of random acts of kindness, giving it back and paying it forward. Here are some ways to give back:

  • Serve meals at a homeless shelter or soup kitchen or donate food to them.
  • Adopt a family or be a Christmas angel.
  • Spend time at your local veteran home.
  • Leave a Christmas gift in your mailbox for the mail carrier.
  • Send a holiday care package to the troops overseas.
  • Donate towels & blankets to an animal shelter (you can pick them up at a thrift store for next to nothing) or donate some toys, treats & food.
